If you plan to fish, a Sport Fishing Permit is required by law in Honduras.
Do Fishing Tours Include the Sport Fishing Permit?
Yes.
Our Fishing Day and Fishing & Cook tours include the Sport Fishing Permit required by
Honduran law.

When making your reservation, you must specify exactly who will be fishing, as permits are:
• Issued individually
• Non-transferable
• Required for each angler onboard
How Does the Sport Fishing Permit Work?
Sport Fishing Permits in Honduras are regulated under a point-based conservation system,
designed to prevent overfishing and protect marine species.
Key regulations include:
• The permit is individual and non-transferable
• Each licensed fisherman may extract up to 10 points per day
• Each species has a specific point value
• No fisherman may extract more than 5 specimens of the same species
• Some species carry higher point values, limiting how many can be kept
This system helps maintain healthy fish populations while allowing responsible sport fishing.
How Long Is the Sport Fishing Permit Valid?
Sport Fishing Permits can be issued for different durations:
• One day
• One week
• One month
• Up to one year
The permit included in our tours is valid for one (1) day, covering the duration of your
charter.
